WHICH IS THE BEST LCD TV FOR MY LIVING ROOM?

The television has provided entertainment for decades, and thanks to advancing technology, you can now enjoy an improved visual experience. An LCD television offers a crystal clear image that is not achievable on a standard TV. Many visual media enthusiasts are switching to an LCD TV to enhance their TV-oriented activities, such as playing video games and watching DVDs.

There are several factors that should be taken into consideration before choosing an LCD TV to make sure that you select one that fulfils your requirements.

Screen Size

It is a misconception that the bigger an LCD TV screen is the better it is. It is, however, important to take the size of the TV’s intended location and the anticipated viewing distance into account when deciding what size TV will best suit your needs. Big screens of 42 inches or more are ideal for large rooms because they have the ability to create a similar atmosphere to that of a cinema. By contrast, if you intend to watch TV in a relatively small room, it is recommended that you purchase an LCD TV with a screen smaller than 42 inches.

Response Time

An LCD’s response time is the amount of time that it takes for the unit’s pixels to go from black to white and back again. A faster response time will lower the chances of ghosting and streaking, providing a consistent image.

Screen Resolution

Until the invention of the flat screen TV, media consumers did not need to worry about technical aspects such as screen resolution. But today, screen resolution is of utmost importance if you want to purchase a high definition LCD TV. High Definition (HD) provides an exceptionally crisp and clear image.

An LCD widescreen TV should have a minimum resolution of 1280x720 in order to be able to display an HD signal adequately.

Full HD HD Ready

HDTV capabilities

Be careful to check what kind of HD capabilities an LCD TV has before you make your purchase. Not every LCD HDTV has the same level of HD quality. It is possible for an LCD TV to be an HD ready LCD TV, which means that although it is able to display an HD signal, it does not have full HD capabilities. To give an LCD TV full HD potential, it must have an aspect ratio of at least 1920x1080.

Difference Between an LCD TV and a Plasma TV

There is often discussion about whether it is better to own an
LCD TV or a plasma TV. Both have their benefits and while many believe the plasma TV to have better picture quality, the fact remains that an LCD TV is a more cost-effective option. LCD TV prices are often lower than those of plasma TVs, while the units still produce excellent image quality.
