AIR CONDITIONER BUYING GUIDE

AirconBuyers1

With summer firmly upon us, everyone is starting to feel the heat. But don’t worry, it’s not too late to invest in a state-of-the-art air conditioner to keep your home or office cool. Before rushing off to your nearest electronics store, make sure that you understand what your aircon requirements are.

Air conditioner units, such as Nashua Air Conditioners, are designed to keep the temperature at your desired level of comfort, but if you choose the wrong unit, you could end up wasting a lot of money.

Choosing an air conditioner that is too small will not have the power to cool the required area and one that is too powerful will use more energy than is necessary, wasting a lot of energy, and thus money. Ask yourself the following questions to help you decide what type of air conditioner you need.

How large is the area that I want to cool?

Deciding which air conditioner to purchase depends largely on the size of the area that you need to keep cool. Does the air conditioning unit need to keep a small home office cool, or is it for a large office with multiple rooms? The larger the space, the more powerful your air conditioner needs to be because small rooms take much less energy to cool than large rooms.

Is the air conditioning for a home or an office?

This is an important question because an office has very different air conditioning requirements to a home. An office generally has several people in it at any given time, and many bodies give off more heat! An office with a large staff complement would therefore require a stronger aircon unit than one with only one or two employees.

A home is also likely to have fewer electronics running throughout the day giving off heat. Every computer, printer or fax machine emits heat, however limited, which will make it more difficult for an air conditioner to keep the area cool.

Choose an air conditioning unit with a higher BTU (British thermal unit) for an office, to counteract the increased source of heat. Consider the Nashua APMN-18CONHR or Nashua APMN-24CONHR, both of which are able to cool a busy office space.

How many rooms need to be kept cool?

It is also necessary to calculate how many rooms you will need your air conditioning unit to keep cool. A home is likely to have more rooms but the likelihood of them all being used at once is slim. Therefore, keeping every room cool would be a waste of energy. A lower powered air conditioning unit, like the Nashua APMN-09CONHR will be enough to keep a study or living room cool for those times that they are being used.

Or if you use a variety of rooms throughout the day, opt for a mobile aircon, like the Nashua Portable Aircon. A mobile air conditioner can conveniently be moved to whichever room you need cooled.
